Dear For the Good of Humanity,
Net zero refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere. We will achieve net zero when the amount we add is no more than the amount taken away. June 29th, 2021, the Canadian Net-Zero Accountability Act became law. The legislation outlines Canada’s commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Vertical infrastructure (residential through heavy industrial) is one of the largest contributors to increases in the concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the atmosphere. Mechanical systems play a critical role in reducing GHGs. Prioritized through the MCAM 5 year Strategic Plan, the association will be providing as series of educational offering to better understand your role and affect change. Stay tuned!
Signed,
