INDUSTRY HIGHLIGHTS
Inspection and Technical Services (ITS) is accepting electronic applications for the installation of pressure equipment in Manitoba. This applies to boilers, pressure vessels and refrigeration plants that fall within the scope of the Manitoba Steam and Pressure Plants Act. Effective June 1, 2022.
The Manitoba government will adopt the 2020 editions of the national model building, plumbing, fire and energy codes, published by the National Research Council, earlier than required by legislation and as soon as practically possible in response to industry feedback on proposed changes to the regulations, Labour, Consumer Protection and Government Services Minister Reg Helwer.
October 17th, Rick Klassen from the City of Winnipeg hosted a webinar for MCAM Members - Separating Development and Building Permits. This session covered why the permit process is changing, the key changes and Industry support provided by the City.

Canada’s Building Trades Unions (CBTU) launched In The Trades, a federally-funded program that will help apprentices get started in the skilled trades. Over the next two years, In The Trades will provide financial incentives and training support for unionized small and medium-sized contractors that hire, train, and retain first-year apprentices to address labour availability across Canada.
