MHI Updates
The Storage Manufacturers Association Industry Group of MHI (SMA) recently announced revisions to two American National Standards: ANSI MH28.2-2022, Design, Testing and Utilization of Industrial Steel Boltless Shelving and ANSI MH28.3-2022, Design, Testing and Utilization of Industrial Steel Work Platforms. The revision of these standards aligns with SMA’s continued commitment to develop, maintain and publish standards for design, performance and safe operation of industrial steel work platforms and shelving products.

After receiving 121 submissions for the 2022 MHI Innovation Awards, winners were announced on March 30 at MHI Industry Night at MODEX.

It has now been 60 years since the opening of the first “automated” high bay warehouse (HBW). Since then, thousands of HBWs and other automated warehouses have been built and some of them have been going for decades. After years of operation though, very few systems still exist in the same format as they were installed. When product ranges, volumes or customer demands change, modernization and expansion become necessary.
