Supply Chain Dive—Nestlé has announced the launch of a new open blockchain pilot with OpenSC, a blockchain platform that provides verified product sourcing and sustainability information directly to customers. While Nestlé has experimented with blockchain track and trace initiatives internally in the past, namely IBM's Food Trust, according to the press release, this is the first time it has piloted a completely open blockchain data platform. Material Handling & Logistics—The U.S. labor market is showing further signs of a slowdown, according to new data from Glassdoor. Job openings in the U.S. increased just 1.4% from the same period last year, according to the employment site’s June 2019 report. The transportation and logistics sector saw by far the biggest growth, increasing 49% from last June and bringing the total number of open jobs over 300,000, according to Glassdoor.

Supply & Demand Chain Executive—The United States and China have agreed to move forward with trade talks, pushing the Trump administration to not add new tariffs on remaining Chinese imports. The countries came to a trade truce during a meeting at the Group of 20 summit in Japan.
