We lost one of our own this month, Gary J. Rosenberg. Gary was a friend, colleague, mentor and chapter leader and left an indelible mark on the hospitality community.
Gary served as the President of our chapter from 1984-1985 with passion and dedication, and throughout his life he remained committed to teaching and inspiring the future leaders of our industry. He was often known as “Mr. MPI."
Gary touched the lives of countless hospitality and meeting professionals in Southern California and across the globe. Current MPISC President Joe Martin had the pleasure of working with Gary while serving on the Board of Directors in the Education Department. Together they partnered to organize the Meeting Basics Program, which Gary co-founded along with his friend and business partner Marjorie Risinger.
In our industry, education has not always been readily available, so it was incredibly inspiring to work alongside someone who truly valued the importance of education for meeting industry professionals. In addition to his work with MPI, Gary also taught future meeting professionals in the hospitality programs at California State University Long Beach and California State University Dominguez Hills.
The Board of Directors is committed to continuing the growth of the Gary J. Rosenberg Scholarship, that was established in Gary's name with the goal of providing important educational opportunities to our chapter members.
Through the memories of his students, colleagues and friends within MPI his incredible legacy will live on. Please share your memories of Gary by visiting his memorial page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/343434223268298/
Our thoughts are with Gary’s family as they go through this difficult time. Gary, you will be in our hearts today and always.
