Why you should try to get your hands on a copy of this event
The morning opened with a master class presented by two executive guest speakers from Capital Group—Ajith Krishnankutty (head of events & capital studies) and Alan Adams (VP, global marketing solutions). The session’s topic was Humanizing Events in a "World Gone Digital." Experts themselves, Ajith and Alan helped the audience differentiate real customer experience from an outdated concept that many of us are somehow still following. They also helped identify biases when exploring problems or new business offerings. I love that they went out of their way to provide additional tools and resources for those who wanted to dive deeper into some of the concepts. Not only did we gain from their experience and insight, but we all walked away with actionable learnings.
Next was the keynote presentation by Gary Bolles from Singularity University. Energetic and knowledgeable, Gary shared futuristic concepts on where event planning would be heading, along with his Reset Curve, which showcased what would be expected within our economy and industry—namely, points of Survival, Revival and Thriving. Although I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of his talk, perhaps the most exciting part highlighted the characteristics to which he believes companies in our industry should shift their focus. In sum: We need to be more agile, inclusive and creative, and find ways to master new toolsets, operate leanly and differentiate. If you're looking for more knowledge bombs, I highly recommend checking out his personal website—he has a lot of fantastic material concerning the future of work in general.
Looking back at this event and the others that MPISCC has put together, it's clear the MPISCC team is doing an amazing job at helping our community of event planners, suppliers, and more, navigate this pandemic and industry shift. The information provided in these virtual series is unparalleled. As always, I'm looking forward to the next one!
