Thursday, December 9 | 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Join us virtually as we discuss A Collar in My Pocket: The Blue Eyes Brown Eyes Exercise by author and educator Jane Elliott. Elliott created the "Blue Eyes, Brown Eyes" exercise to help her students understand the work of Martin Luther King Jr. The exercise and Elliott's work have been cited and studied by psychologists and sociologists across the globe. The discussion is expected to be both enlightening and lively, so you won't want to miss getting in on the action while expanding your mind. After having the chance to dive into the book, we will get the opportunity to hear from the You Belong Committee, who will conduct an exercise to illustrate the book's theme and present a short DE&I topic. Members and non-members are welcome. Registration opens soon! By Chrissy Thompson
Where to begin? Sometimes we're so busy with the hustle and bustle of everyday life that we forget to stop and thoughtfully engage with the people around us. Sound like you?
Don't worry, as I too am guilty of this — especially as in-person events and site selections ramp up these last few quarters. My team and I have been oh so busy, which is why I really wanted to attend this virtual education session led by Mandi Graziano.

Over the next several months, the You Belong Committee will be sharing what we call "The DEI Minute" — which is quick hits of information and content designed to help our chapter level-set our collective diversity, equity and inclusion knowledge. We'll start by providing the definitions of the most commonly used terminology in the space as the starting point of our journey as we embark on true learning and awareness — together!
Equity Workplace equity is when focus is placed on the chapter members’ individualistic needs. A natural byproduct of a diverse workplace is that differences exist. Equity requires that we acknowledge that everyone has different needs, experiences and opportunities. Because we want to hear from ALL MPISCC members, we've extended the submission deadline for the DEI Survey through the end of November. This is your chance to have your voice heard and your perspective counted.
It will only take three minutes of your time, so here's your chance to be counted! Email directordei@mpiscc.org to get started! Industry News
