The MPI Toronto Chapter held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) virtually on Thursday, September 21st. Over 50 members participated, and 39 proxies were submitted, meeting the required quorum to vote on any motions submitted – including accepting the Board’s financial report and approving the actions of the Leadership Team of 2022-23.
After the approval of the Agenda and the Approval of the minutes of the 2022 AGM, the outgoing VP of Finance, Tammy Bradley, BAA, CMP, VEMM, presented the Treasurer’s Report for the year ending June 30, 2023. The Chapter remains in a strong financial position, but the return to in-person events did result in an increase in expenses that exceeded revenue for the past year. The membership approved the financial report.
The outgoing President, Wentworth Willock, CMP, reported on the achievements and challenges experienced during his term. The Chapter was still recovering from the industry-wide impact of the pandemic, but he was pleased by the progress that the outgoing Board made. The incoming President, Alissa Hurley, CMM, CED, then spoke about her vision for the Chapter and the need to simplify what MPI Toronto does enabling the Chapter to concentrate on activities that make the most impact for our members. The Board wants to respect everyone’s time while ensuring the Chapter delivers value. Along with that message was a call for everyone to see if they could help the Chapter by volunteering (even for a few hours) to improve the value of membership. The AGM was formally closed to conclude the 2022-23 year.
