In the Know sat down with Zaman Ishaad, the incoming President of MPI Toronto, to get to know him better. We wanted to share our conversation.
Q: How long have you been an MPI member and why did you join?
A: I have been a member of MPI for almost 9 years (my anniversary is on December 25). I signed up as a student, after my professor recommended that I join. I had an instant passion for the industry and wanted to learn about the various aspects of our profession. My goal was to get my first M&E job, and I realized there were so many more opportunities to grow, connect, and advance with MPI.
Q: What is your current job? What do you like about your work?
A: I am currently at AV-CANADA as an Account Manager. I love that I get to work with industry planners on their conferences by supporting them with AV services and solutions. My passion is bringing the best customer service, creativity and improving accessibility at events for my clients.
Q: If the wish fairy would grant you one desire for MPI while you are President, what would it be?
A: It would be to help “build the bridge” between students and industry – specifically through MPI. There are so many more opportunities students can achieve by being part of MPI. My first wish would be to pay for their membership and welcome them to their first event.
Q: What is something few people know about you?
A: One of my hobbies is watching Hallmark Movies (year-round). I’m a huge fan of movies – I have an Excel sheet with all the movies I’ve watched. I’ve been to a convention to meet the stars as well. This is one of the ways I like to relax during the busy seasons!
Now you know Zaman a bit better, feel free to connect with him at an upcoming MPI event.
