November Monthly Meeting Report

The November monthly meeting was held at the beautiful boutique Waterside Inn located in Port Credit, Ontario. The Breakwater Restaurant was transformed into a lovely cocktail area where members indulged in luxurious appetizers and sparkling wine. During the reception, members were encouraged to participate in the ice breaker activity to facilitate networking. Every member was given four cards of the same colour and was asked to collect all four colours to be eligible for a prize. This allowed members to easily engage in conversation with one another and for many it sparked lively and entertaining discussions.

The banquet hall, where the dinner was held, was absolutely gorgeous. The room had a glamorous feel to it which complemented the decadent dinner that was served. The chef entertained our palettes with a wonderful baker’s basket, filet mignon and a chocolate opera cake for dessert. Our compliments go to the chef Dirk Noort and his team for preparing a fabulous meal.

After hearing from our hosts, Darryl Nielsen and current president, Kelly Shannon, we were introduced to our speaker for the evening, Sunjay Nash. Sunjay engaged the group with humour and thoroughly discussed the "10-80-10" principle. Sunjay instructed us that the way to apply the principle and change behaviours within an organization is to A.C.T. By being aware of your desired result, which groups are your top 10, bottom 10 and majority 80, you can then neutralize the bottom 10 and empower the top 10. Over time, the top 10 will lead the majority 80 towards the desired results and behaviours. This principle can be applied to organizations and personal lives alike, as was demonstrated through a captivating and hilarious Cinderella, or shall I say Rindercella, story.
