The Québec City Convention Centre has announced a 69,000 sq. ft. expansion.
To improve access and offer more meeting space and preconference activity options, the Convention Centre will both overhaul current facilities and acquire part of an existing shopping mall adjacent to the Centre. Expansion will place the Convention Centre among the leaders in Canada. "This expansion will give us a greater ability to accommodate visitors, which is the key to winning convention business. We can also host more events simultaneously and thus profit from the growing demand in the thriving meetings industry," added P.-Michel Bouchard, Québec City Convention Centre CEO.
CSA Standards Walking the Talk Through Use of its Own Sustainable Event Standard
Drawing industry leaders, government representatives, consumer advocates and policy experts, the CSA Standards 2011 Annual Conference and Committee Week, held in Victoria, B.C. in June 2011 is the first corporate event in Canada to be organized in accordance with the recently launched event sustainability management standard, CSA Z2010-10 Requirements and guidance for organizers of sustainable events. The standard involves a comprehensive approach to integrating sustainability considerations into event planning and management. The CSA Z2010-10 standard provides event organizers with a management framework for improving event sustainability and a tool for communicating to the public the actions that have been taken to do so. EdgeWalk Opens at CN Tower
Open to the public as of August 1st, 2011, EdgeWalk is CN Tower’s most thrilling attraction in its 35 year history, and the first of its kind in North America. It is the world’s highest full circle hands-free walk on a 5ft (1.5 m) wide ledge encircling the top of the Tower’s main pod. Visitors will walk in groups of six, while attached to an overhead safety rail via a trolley and harness system. Trained EdgeWalk guides will encourage participants to push their personal limits, allowing them to lean back over Toronto with nothing but air and breathtaking views of Lake Ontario beneath them. For corporations, this is the perfect opportunity for a team building activity followed by a celebratory reception or meal at one of the many versatile event spaces at the CN Tower.
