MPI Student Chapter at University of Guelph

On March 15th, 2012, the executive members of the student chapters of MPI and PCMA at the University of Guelph organized a panel of guest speakers. It was an astounding success with 60 attendees at the event who were mainly hospitality and tourism students. The event featured speakers, Duff Shaw (CEO of Retirement Bliss, and Life Member MPI), Paul Alves (Senior Corporate Sales Manager at Deerhurst Resort, and Chair of Membership Services at MPI Toronto Chapter), and Sharon and Dave Jenkins (co-owners of Jenkins Show Productions). It was an absolute pleasure to have had the opportunity to meet both Duff and Paul at multiple MPI Toronto Chapter networking functions and then have them volunteer to be our guest speakers.

The discussion focused on entrepreneurship and event management, followed by recommendations for students to become successful. The panel of speakers was so motivational and inspirational that by the end of the event, students started to approach the executive team requesting information to join MPI next semester. We appreciate all the positive influences from the professionals in MPI and we look forward to building an even stronger relationship with the University of Guelph Student Chapter and the MPI Toronto Chapter.
