The Power of Mentorship – A Successful Year for (MP)2

The Mentorship Program in the Fall of 2011 had four completed matches with one showing interest in renewing. As a result, the MPI Toronto Chapter made it part of their strategic initiative to further develop the mentorship program this year. Through the work of the Member Care Committee, and Sandra Moniz, our very own Mentorship Champion, the MPI Toronto Mentorship Program, (MP)², has greatly expanded and developed.

The redesigned (MP)² program was launched in the spring of 2012 with 10 successful and engaged matches. A focus of the new design was to look more strategically into pairing up individuals that will make a good match based on their backgrounds, goals, and desired outcomes going into the program. The result has been increased number of successful pairings, as well as many more successful matches, thanks to greater promotion of the program. There are still a handful of eager mentees waiting to be paired with mentors, and Sandra and the members involved in the program are actively seeking enthusiastic mentors to connect with them. There are many benefits to both the mentee and mentor, and the focus of the (MP)² program is that it is mutually beneficial – through an exchange of information, knowledge, skills, and advice. Sandra Moniz is looking forward to the continued growth of the (MP)² program into next year, and has personally experienced the strength of the program through her connection with her new mentee.
