April 12-14, 2018. These were the dates the Canadian Meetings industry descended on Ottawa, ON and I had the opportunity to fully immerse myself in an event experience unlike any other. For the design team the hard work started months before these dates as we tried to challenge the status quo from every angle.
The goal of the EVENT was to go above and beyond and challenge the typical format of a conference. We knew that there were lots of other programs vying for the interest of our target audience – so we had to come up with something "new" and "fresh." The EVENT designers (of which I am proud to be one) focused on three key principles throughout the planning process: Cultivation, Collaboration, and Evaluation, which helped guide us in reaching our goal to make the EVENT stand out from all other conferences and events that are available to our industry.
For the first time in recent Canadian history, three Meeting Professionals International (MPI) chapters (Toronto, Montreal & Quebec, Ottawa) partnered together to offer something bigger and better for our respective chapters. These three unique meeting communities banded together to offer event participants the chance to expand their networks, strengthen existing relationships, and receive cutting edge, educational content delivered in innovative ways.
Boundaries were pushed, eyes were opened, and new techniques were explored. Overall the EVENT was incredibly innovative, refreshing, and a huge success! I am looking forward to seeing where we go in 2019 and beyond. If you are looking for an event that will change your perspective and open your eyes to what is possible you should definitely look at being in Montreal, April 2019.
Don’t just take my word for it....see for yourself.
