Calgary Unveils Designs for BMO Centre Expansion
Calgary is thrilled to share the newly unveiled designs for the $500 million BMO Centre expansion. This stunning design will significantly grow and modernize the existing facility and takes into account the learnings from multiple stakeholder focus group sessions held over the past 18 months. The BMO Centre will be the largest conference facility in western Canada upon completion in June 2024. Together with the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre, Calgary will be the second largest convention destination in Canada. The new BMO Center will have over 1 million square feet of total floor space, including 350,000 square feet of adjoining exhibit space, and more than double its current rentable area. More importantly, the new facility will adopt, inside and out, today’s best practices in premier conference facility design. The interior spaces will be ample and adaptable; meeting rooms will be wired for instant connectivity; flexible breakout areas will facilitate those all-important human connections; and outdoor spaces will invite attendees to experience the natural surroundings, diverse amenities and western hospitality Calgary is famous for. Beyond the grounds of the convention facility itself, the expansion is set to catalyze the transformation of East Victoria Park into Calgary’s Culture & Entertainment District, supporting new commercial development in the district and surrounding communities.
