Back for a second year, the Friday morning Hot Topics session is a great way to launch the last day of the Institute & Expo. NAFA listens to our Members and reserves this last “Big Room” session for topics that are new, emerging, and important to your career.
This year, we have designed a three-part session to discuss Electronic Logging Devices, renewable diesel, and what’s new with the Association. Come to understand the principles surrounding the Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Mandate and how to meet its compliance standards. We will be discussing; what is an ELD, what is the purpose of the mandate, the rule defined, who the rule applies to, exceptions for timeline for compliance, and how to find help.
Renewable Diesel (also known as RD99) is a new take on an old fuel and is made from 100 percent renewable sources that can provide an immediate 40-80 percent emission reduction at a cost comparable to traditional petroleum fuel. Renewable Diesel may be used in any diesel engine, meets the same exact ASTM D975-12a standard as petroleum diesel fuel, and requires no modifications to vehicles and infrastructure. This session will introduce you to this fuel and share feedback from several fleets that have been using this alternative fuel.
To wrap up the morning session, NAFA’s President Bryan Flansburg, CAFM®, will give a brief description of some of the Association’s latest initiatives. You will learn about the impact of recent bylaws changes, the launch of the sustainable fleet certification module, our progress with Computer-based Testing, the pending release of NAFA’s brand-new website, and more.
In addition, be ready to provide your input and ask questions directly to NAFA leaders!
