Greg Asadoorian And Bob Johnson Receive Honorary Lifetime Membership Awards

NAFA President Ruth Alfson, CAFM®, and NAFA Senior Vice President Bryan Flansburg, CAFM®, announced 2015's Honorary Lifetime Membership Awardrecipients  during the third annual Fleet Excellence Awards on Tuesday night, April 14, in the Orange County Convention Center.

They are:

Bob Johnson, NTEA Director of Fleet Relations, has over 50 years of experience in utility fleet, and heavy equipment maintenance and design. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA in general management.

He started working with the National Truck Equipment Association on a consulting basis in 2004 and joined the NTEA staff on a full time basis in 2006 as Director of Fleet Relations. Prior to joining the NTEA, he was with Verizon Communications and its predecessor companies; Bell Atlantic and C&P Telephone as a District Fleet Supervisor; Fleet Acquisitions Specialist; and Fleet Specifications and Design Specialist. His final position with Verizon was National Manager of Fleet Technical Support Services. In this position his group supported a fleet of over 65,000 vehicles in 38 states.

And through all of this, he has been a dedicated proponent of fleet and industries that require transportation services. He’s also been a great friend of NAFA.

The New England Chapter's Greg Asadoorian, now retired from INVENSYS, won the second Honorary Lifetime Membership Award of 2015. Greg is well-known as a tireless advocate for the fleet industry in general and of NAFA in particular. "He constantly strove, during his career, to make NAFA what it is today. Now retired, he remains one of the Association’s greatest friends."

Greg has been the "face" of the New England Chapter for many years. He recruits new volunteers at every meeting helping to ensure that the chapter has a continued flow of "new blood" and fresh ideas.

His efforts were instrumental in bring the FMI – now the I&E -- to Boston in the mid 80’s and it being a big success.  One of his proudest achievements was helping NAFA update its Total Cost of Ownership model.

He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from PHH in 2009. He is a past Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Secretary of the New England Chapter; and continues to serve as Nominating Committee Chair for the New England Chapter.

In addition, his warmth, sincerity and friendliness have created a welcome environment throughout the chapter.  He is always front and center at the chapter registration table and goes out of his way to introduce himself to all newcomers to make sure they are welcome and at ease.

Congratulations, Bob and Greg on your well-deserved recognition!
