Data
fuels today’s business world. Understanding what it all means when the
numbers roll in, and what it means to an individual’s profession, can
make the difference between getting out in front of a trend or getting
stuck behind it. Dan Ricci, Global Big Data Automotive Industry Leader
for IBM Corporation will be a Keynote Presenter at the 2016 Institute
& Expo , April 19-22 in Austin, Texas, Ricci’s thought-provoking
presentation will inform attendees where fleet fits into it, and what
fleets can get out of it.
"For fleet managers, having clarity about what your fleet is doing and
where it is heading operationally is crucial," said NAFA’s Chief
Executive Officer, Phillip E. Russo, CAE. "Big data is a huge component
of how to attain that clarity, and Dan Ricci’s keynote speech will
instruct and inform every I&E audience member."
Dan Ricci’s automotive background spans over 15 years working with major
OEMs and suppliers. Ricci specializes in data and analytics solutions
across the enterprise and automotive ecosystem. He is responsible for
helping IBM Automotive Industry Clients world-wide address information
and analytics challenges across the value chain.
Since 2002, Ricci has used various technologies and his industry
experience to define and deliver solutions across multiple business
functions including product development, manufacturing, quality, sales,
marketing, service/aftermarket, and support. He has worked with most of
the major automotive manufacturers and suppliers around the world.
"Data collection and analysis affects fleet professionals on multiple
levels, from the overall performance of an organization to the risk
factors of a single driver," said Russo. "We look forward to attendees
taking advantage of this powerful presentation."
A tremendous amount of vehicle data is generated every second. Last
year, an estimated 26 million connected cars collected more than 480
Terabytes of data. This data can include in-vehicle infotainment,
sensors for assisted driving, vehicle speed, braking, transmission
control systems, and more. Ricci will put all this into context during
this powerful and challenging presentation.
The Institute & Expo attracts thousands of fleet professionals from
throughout the world for four days of education, networking, and
motivation to bring back to the office.
Also in Austin in 2016, NAFA’s International Fleet Academy returns as a
pre-conference, one-day event on April 18. This gathering focuses on the
unique aspects of the global fleet management sector, and what is
required of fleet professionals when their organizations go global. It
is a "must" for businesspeople who may be involved with international
fleet oversight in the future.
