The Annual Business Meeting at the Institute & Expo is traditionally the session where NAFA leaders let members and attendees know about all the great things NAFA did the previous year, and offer a glimpse of the Association's future direction. This year's meeting was no different!

NAFA CEO Phil Russo, CAE kicked off the Annual Business Meeting on Tuesday, April 14 with a bit of audience participation, and ended with a lasting thought of what NAFA membership really looks like and consists of.

Excitement abounded on Tuesday evening of I&E as the winners of the 2015 FLEXY Awards ascended the stage and claimed their awards. The FLEXYs are open to all fleet professionals, regardless of whether or not they are members of NAFA Fleet Management Association.

The recipients for 2015 are Bob Johnson, NTEA Director of Fleet Relations, and the New England Chapter's Greg Asadoorian, now retired from INVENSYS. Congratulations, Bob and Greg on your well-deserved recognition!

One of the highlights of NAFA’s annual conference each year is the Chapter Recognition Luncheon. It’s a time to relax, network with colleagues, and have fun with fellow fleet professionals within their NAFA Chapter. It’s also a time in which NAFA highlights the work of one NAFA Affiliate and one Member for their tremendous efforts in supporting their local chapter. NAFA's Outstanding Chapter Service Award honors exceptional commitment to the Association's chapters.

Signifying a revolutionary step in how fleets define and adhere to sustainable practices, NAFA Fleet Management Association’s Sustainable Fleet Accreditation Program is a tool for fleet management professionals to help increase efficiency, reduce emissions, and conserve fuel for their businesses.

The Excellence In Education Award recipient for 2015 is NAFA Senior Vice President Bryan Flansburg, CAFM^®, who takes his place next to previous Excellence In Education Award winners Patti Earley, CAFM^®, Katherine Vigneau, CAFM^®, Julie Furlotte, CAFM^®, and Matthew Betz. Congratulations, Bryan!

The I&E's Wednesday keynote event saw the return of the OEM Fireside Chat.This opportunity brought together four key executives in auto manufacturing's fleet programs in a thought-provoking conversation.

Year after year, NAFA’s U.S. Legislative Update session is a must-attend session for fleet professionals. For this year's showcase general session, NAFA's Immediate Past President Claude Masters, CAFM^®, was joined by NAFA’s Legislative Counsel Patrick O'Connor, and James Tamm, a top National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) official that has been heavily involved in proposed rulemaking regarding Phase 2 greenhouse-gas emissions (2 GHG). This discussion took place on Thursday morning, April 16.

During Friday morning's fleet-managers only session Fleet Management Executives Tackle Tough Fleet Issues, I&E attendees heard directly from the leaders of each of the major fleet management companies as they discussed what they see coming in the near future with regard to such important topics as procurement, sourcing, inventory, sustainability, global expansion, and much more.

On Wednesday morning, prior to the third annual OEM Fireside Chat and CAFM^® graduates recognition, Paul Laskowski of Ferris State University was awarded the NAFA Foundation's 2015 Willard DaSilva Student Scholarship.

NAFA offers a number of introductory and advanced seminars, international events, and certification boot camps throughout the year. Upcoming opportunities like the Essentials of Fleet Management seminar and the CAFM^®/S Boot Camp in Chicago are terrific steps toward your professional development.

NAFA's Chapter members had the opportunity to cut loose and have fun with fellow chapter members from across North America.
