This is it! NAFA's 2016 Institute and Expo kicks off in Austin, TX one week from today! So, before you head to the conference, take an extra moment and make sure all of the important items are checked off your to-do list.

Dan Ricci, Global Big Data Automotive Industry Leader for IBM Corporation will be a Keynote Presenter at the 2016 Institute & Expo, April 19-22 in Austin, Texas, Ricci’s thought-provoking presentation will inform attendees where fleet fits into it, and what fleets can get out of it.

"That’s why we electrified the entire Trans-Canada Highway. If the longest highway in the world can be electrified, what can’t be?"

Donna Setaro is the Founder of the Move Over Awareness Campaign in New Jersey, and has given over 450 presentations regarding the Move Over law to over 55,000 people. "Most presentations I give are to an audience of around 300 people. On average, less than 15 percent in that audience are aware of the existence of Move Over laws." Donna Setaro will be a keynote speaker at NAFA's 2016 Institute & Expo, April 19-22 in Austin, Texas.

The CAFM^® Boot Camp sessions review the concepts in the curriculum with which most candidates have difficulty, based on test result analysis. CAFM^® and CAFS^® program participants can use this opportunity to reinforce their existing expertise and obtain assistance for concepts that might be problematic. The CAFM^® Boot Camp program covers the certification program's eight disciplines with a focus on exam preparation.

Despite the buzz around driver monitoring, all programs and technologies are not created equal. The space between the myths and realities of a comprehensive driver monitoring program can make a huge difference in your business’ exposure to risk, litigation, and insurance premium costs. Be sure to attend "Driver Monitoring: Myths vs. Reality" on Wednesday, April 20 to help separate fact from fiction.

There are many compliance challenges facing fleets beyond those from the Department of Transportation (DoT). Additional difficulties are presented through regulatory rules and actions of the Office of the Secretary of Transportation (OST). We will explain these systems, best practices for how to remain compliant, and show real-life examples of what non-compliance can mean in terms of audits and potential penalties at the session "What You Need to Know: Regulatory Compliance at the Federal and State Level" on Tuesday, April 19.

Critical to all fleet managers with emergency vehicles is the latest data on officer and worker safety in and around work sites and emergency scenes. This course, "Lights, Sirens, Visibility, Decibels, and More" will give you the basic human factors such as eyesight and hearing and how they respond to changes in light levels, background noise, and how we detect, recognize and respond to warning signals. Be sure to attend on Tuesday, April 19.

The International Fleet Academy might not officially kick off until 1:00 pm on Monday, April 18, but you'll want to show up early for the IFA Networking Registration lunch! You will be able to enjoy your meal in a spacious area and get prepared to learn more about the global fleet industry! This networking session will also allow you to do business, make connections, or just spend time with your colleagues before getting down to business at IFA.

The Chapter Recognition Luncheon returns on Tuesday, April 19, to give this important event the prominence it deserves. The event will include the presentation of NAFA’s Outstanding Chapter Service Awards, celebrating two individuals who exemplified the qualities of being a committed NAFA Chapter member.

Join NAFA volunteer leaders and staff to discuss "hot topics" identified by members. In this fast-paced session, presenters will describe a topic and invite attendees to ask their questions. Selected topics that might be discussed include NAFA’s bylaw amendments, distracted driving, marijuana and open-carry laws, and motivating different generations in the workplace.

NAFA will be hosting an Opening Night Awards Party on Tuesday, April 19 at the Austin Convention Center. The Fleet Excellence Awards (FLEXY) are true industry awards for the fleet management profession. Designed to celebrate fleet professionals in seven categories, the FLEXY recognizes the best and brightest in the field.
