British Columbia Takes Measures to Target Unsafe Vehicles

As the summer begins to wrap up, British Columbia’s Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) branch, along with local law enforcement, continues to take measures to ensure commercial vehicles are meeting safety standards.

Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Shirley Bond announced earlier that the summer project is an important component of increased roadside enforcement across the entire province. Its goal is to increase awareness in the commercial transport industry about road safety.

The focus will be on load security issues and the mechanical condition of commercial vehicles including long haul trucks, local taxis and farm vehicles.  It is expected that the results of the inspections will be used to showcase trends in mechanical maintenance, which in turn, may result in increased focus on some designated inspection facilities and commercial businesses.
