NAFA was once again well represented in this year’s Fleet Hall of Fame class. Four of the eight inductees are current NAFA Members or Affiliates (Mike Antich, Automotive Fleet; George Argueta, Corporate Claims Management; Helene Kamon, AmeriFleet Transportation; and Wayne Smolda, CEI). Former NAFA Member Don Kreft, who is retired from LeasePlan, was also inducted during a cereomy at the Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association (AFLA) conference, September 8-10, in Las Vegas.
Presented by Automotive Fleet magazine, the Fleet Hall of Fame recognizes fleet industry leaders who have contributed significantly to the commercial fleet management profession. Eligible nominees must have at least 10 years of fleet management experience and have contributed significantly to the industry. The eight inductees were chosen from 26 nominees to receive the prestigious honor.
Kamon was recognized as a pioneering female in the fleet industry. She began her career working for Dealers CadiLease, later purchased by Union Leasing. She went on to manage Wendy’s fleet for 11 years, starting with 350 vehicles, which grew to 2,000 in the United States and Canada. Prior to joining AmeriFleet she ran her own driveaway company for seven years. Kamon was the first female president of AFLA (1988-1989). |
