Perhaps the groundhog will be correct this year. A small patch of good winter weather permitted 75 Members and Affiliates of the NAFA Philadelphia Chapter to turn out for their annual Philadelphia Auto Show meeting on Thursday, February 3. With a waiting list of attendees, the meeting was held at the Aramark Tower right next to the Philadelphia Convention Center, home to the Show.
"This continues to be one of the best meetings of the year," noted Chapter Chair Jonathan Kamanns, Fleet Operations, Cephalon Inc.
Before attending the Show in the afternoon, eight auto manufacturers gave NAFA Chapter members a taste of what was awaiting them on the exhibit floor and in upcoming production years. On hand were representatives from Ford, Chrysler, Volkswagen, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Subaru, GM, and Volvo. All spoke of the latest safety and fuel technologies, as well as design and model changes -- and many of the OEM representatives agreed that all the vehicles "out there" (on the Show floor) are now good, unlike years ago where there may have been good vehicles and bad vehicles. Most members on hand seemed to agree.
The meeting was sponsored by Aramark, Mercedes-Benz, and Wheels. Registration included an elegant, morning-to-noon brunch, which included everything from yogurt and fruit to filet mignon, admission to the Auto Show, discounted parking and a snack voucher to be used at the Auto Show. The next NAFA Philadelphia chapter meeting is March 3 on Fleet Policy and Driver Motivation. Visit www.nafaphiladelphia.org for details. |
