CAFM/CAFS Professional Development Webinar: Registration Ends Today

Fleet managers or specialists, like most professionals, need to continuously educate themselves, not simply to maintain their position but to stay ahead of the curve and demonstrate true leadership. Knowledge is an asset to be cultivated and developed. In order to manage this asset, a fleet manager or specialist must understand how to develop and motivate employees, work within various organizational frameworks, and adjust leadership or management techniques to fit the situation. Throughout, the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is a key to success.

NAFA’s Certification Board is pleased to announce a CAFM/CAFS Professional Development Webinar (Part I) scheduled for Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 3:00 pm (EST). The Webinar is designed for Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) and Certified Automotive Fleet Specialist (CAFS) candidates, as well as others interested in investing in their own professional development. The information contained in this webinar will help you prepare for the CAFM/CAFS exams, deepen your knowledge of professional development, and does so in a convenient and cost effective learning format.

Fleet professionals attending this webinar will learn:

PD 1: Individuals in Organizations
  • To identify characteristics of individuals and the factors that motivate them
  • To define and explain the theories and processes of training and career development
  • To define and identify legal issues affecting the workplace

PD 2: Groups
  • To understand how groups are formed in an organization
  • To determine the characteristics and function of groups
  • To learn about the role of unions
  • To be able to effectively create and use teams

PD 3: Leadership
  • To distinguish between leaders and managers
  • To identify factors, traits, models, and theories of leadership
  • To understand the use of power and dangers of abuse
  • To learn how to conduct succession planning
  • To understand how leaders can communicate effectively

The instructors for this webinar are:

Bryan Flansburg, CAFM - Bryan Flansburg has twenty-eight years of fleet experience, twenty-four of those with the University of Colorado where he has been the Director of Transportation Services for the past fifteen years. Flansburg is an active member of NAFA and has served at the local and the National level as well as providing numerous fleet seminars. He is presently one of NAFA's Vice Presidents and the Trustee responsible for the Certification Board. Flansburg earned his CAFM in 1997.

Bob McElheney, CAFM - Bob McElheney has twenty-three years of fleet experience including work with local government and a Fortune 50 Corporation.  He received his CAFM in 1991 and his CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) in 2004. McElheney has been active in NAFA for many years serving as the Chair of the Carolinas Chapter in 2004, the Vice Chair of Fleet Education in 2008, and in his present position of Vice Chair of the Certification Board since 2011. McElheney won the Larry Goill award in 2009.
