Government of Canada Announces Energy Efficiency Improvements
The Honorable Joe Oliver, Minister of Natural Resources, has announced an additional investment of $117 million over three years for the ecoENERGY Efficiency Initiatives. Included as part of the benefits for Canadians through these initiatives are improving energy efficiency through vehicle labels and industrial practices, among others.
The new funding is in addition to an initial $78-million investment announced by Minister Oliver last September. The five-year total for the initiatives has now reached $195 million.
Minister Oliver highlighted that this announcement signals the Government of Canada’s commitment to continuing to advance clean energy technologies and making Canada a world leader in energy efficiency. These projects will help to save energy, create jobs and increase energy security.
