Government of Canada Announces The Canadian Production of Honda’s 2012 CR-V

The Honorable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry, has announced that mass production of the fourth-generation Honda CR-V will begin in Alliston, Ontario by Honda of Canada Manufacturing.

This announcement means that the province of Ontario will now be home to Honda’s top two best-selling Canadian vehicles, the Civic and CR-V. The Minister highlighted that the Government of Canada remains committed to the automotive industry, as it is an essential part of the Canadian economy.

The Minister also announced that this decision signals the company’s confidence in Canada as a competitive automotive manufacturing country. Canada, as a whole, continues to implement key initiatives for auto investment, which in turn will create jobs and continue to grow the Canadian economy.

Honda of Canada Manufacturing opened its Alliston plant in 1986, making it the first Japanese company to produce automobiles in Canada. The production of the CR-V at this plant will be its first.
