The planning, operation, and execution of a long-term fleet plan is often changed by a knee-jerk reaction by upper management or elected officials – usually with little or no warning or input from fleet management. These changes can be devastating to the effectiveness of fleet operations and can create long-lasting issues affecting fleets, both financially and operationally. In an educational session entitled Coping With Fleet Mandates From Executives And Other Elected Officials, industry leaders will discuss how fleet managers can anticipate these disruptive directives and, through planning and proactive fleet education of those responsible, can sometimes avert or lessen the severity of a mandate change.
The session will take place on Saturday, April 21 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at America’s Center in St. Louis, MO. It is one of over sixty educational sessions for fleet professionals throughout NAFA’s 2012 Institute & Expo. The session will be moderated by Teresa Davis, PhD, Director of Transportation Services, Pennsylvania State University and led by John Brewington, CAFM, CEM, President, Brewington & Company.
Attendees will hear examples of approaches that have worked in real-world circumstances and be asked to share success stories of their own.
"One of the most important aspects for coping with mandates is picking up on the signs that ‘change’ may be forthcoming," said NAFA’s Executive Director Phillip E. Russo, CAE. "This session not only helps attendees learn how to read the signs, but explains how being proactive – helping executives and elected officials know more about fleet – can benefit their fleet operations."
