Remote Diagnostics for North America Launched by Volvo Trucks
Remote Diagnostics aftermarket service for North America will now be standard on all Volvo-powered VN model highway trucks. Launched by Volvo Trucks, Remote Diagnostics provides proactive diagnostic and repair planning support with comprehensive analysis of important diagnostic trouble codes.
Through the remote communication platform, it will be possible for live dealer and customer communication through the company’s 24-hour service support team.
The benefits of proactive diagnostics includes the reformation of service methods with confirmation of parts on-hand, prior to a truck arriving at a service station. This process will, in turn, increase uptime.
Remote Diagnostics was field-tested over the past year with motor carriers in both Canada and the United States, and included obtaining key feedback from individuals operating more than 1,300 Volvo VN model trucks with the service.
Province of Quebec Implements New Drinking and Driving Law
New drinking and driving restrictions are now in place for young drivers in Quebec. The new law, which was first introduced in December 2010 states that drivers aged 21 and under are not permitted to consume any alcohol before driving a vehicle. Penalties for violators include having their license suspended and fines of up to $600.
Approximately 110,000 drivers in the province will be affected by the new policy. Quebec joins Ontario, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick, which already have similar policies in place.
