Greater Hartford Chapter Fleet Management Association Spring Meeting

The Greater Hartford Chapter Fleet Management Association Spring Meeting was convened on Thursday May 17, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at Berlin, CT's Northeast Utilities Auditorium. Speakers included Lt. Donald Bridge of the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles presenting Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, CSA 2010, and Compliance; and Dennis Dougherty from Liberty Mutual presenting Driver Safety Programs.

The educational component of the meeting involved an overview of DMV truck inspections programs and DOT compliance requirements. Also covered were Commercial Drivers License holders' driver responsibilities, as well as all compliance issues.

Mr. Dougherty, from Liberty Mutual, covered driver history reports, DMV checks, accident reporting, authorized use of vehicles, take home policy, driver mileage report, and IRS personal use. Greater Hartford Chapter Chair Thomas E. Larkum said, "(Dougherty) did a fantastic job covering all driver safety issues."

According to Larkum, "There are at least ten new membership in process as a result of the quality of the meeting and there was a strong desire for more meetings with topics focused on truck fleets, corporate, and public."

Bridget Clark, Chapter Vice Chair said, "The attendance was well received with forty-eight fleet managers and approximately twenty affiliates. Everyone really put forth great efforts in pulling this together and wanted to give some recognition to our chapter."
