Matthew L. Marcial, CMP, Named NAFA’s Director Of Meetings And Education

One of NAFA’s most important goals is to be the leader in fleet management education throughout the industry. To accomplish this, the Association relies on its Director of Meetings & Education to keep projects moving and events under control. On September 4, 2012, NAFA Fleet Management Association proudly welcomed Matthew L. Marcial, CMP, recognized by ConventionSouth Magazine as one of the "2012 Meeting Professionals to Watch," as its new Director of Meetings & Education.

"Marcial brings a strong background in meeting and event management," said NAFA’s Executive Director, Phillip E. Russo, CAE. "He comes to NAFA from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists in Jacksonville, FL, where he served as Director of Meetings & Event Services. In addition to directing all aspects of AACE's Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Congress, Matthew also handled site-selection and negotiated and contracted all of the association’s programs (over 100 annually). Matthew also has a good understanding of managing education programs with continuing education credits, which will be helpful for NAFA and its certification efforts. He understands that his role is to motivate his staff to provide the highest levels of member satisfaction while producing high quality educational programs."

"Matthew has big shoes to fill in replacing Jayne Ratyniak who retired for medical reasons back in May," said Russo. "But I’m confident that he is the right person to help take the Association to the next level."

Relocating from Florida to New Jersey, Marcial is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) who brings an understanding of and a passion for current issues and trends in the meetings world. He recently completed his MBA from Florida International University and teaches a course on event planning for Duke University’s Continuing Studies program. Marcial is an active member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) where he serves on the 2012-2013 Marketplace Advisory Council and was a featured speaker at the MPI Toronto Education Conference.

Marcial plans to immerse himself with plans for NAFA’s 2013 Institute & Expo in Atlantic City. The annual conference is the fleet management event of the year with more than 60 hours of educational sessions, keynote speakers, and networking. The 2013 I&E will take place April 23-26, 2013 at the Atlantic City Convention Center.
