Canadian Legislative Updates

As part of the Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station Incentive Program, Metro Vancouver is providing $4,000 to up to 75 eligible businesses and non-profit organizations across the region. The incentive grants are being offered to various companies who are making plans for the future and are willing to install electric vehicle charge stations.

The incentive will be discussed during free EV charging station information sessions, being held throughout the month of November across the region. Benefits and technical issues, as well as technical support will be provided. 

The deadline to apply for the incentive grant is November 30, 2012.


A new bilingual website, www.gowithnaturalgas.ca, has been introduced to accelerate the transition to lower emission vehicles. The website provides easy access and a "one-stop-shop" for retrieving information on how making the switch to natural gas can lower emissions and help lessen operating costs for truck and bus fleet owners.

Canadian fleets interested in obtaining vital information and learning more about natural gas vehicles should refer to this resource. In addition to the use of online calculators and learning about the availability of factory-built trucks and buses, information on driving range, technology improvements, stations, emissions benefits, payback and fuel savings, and the comparison between natural gas and diesel is also readily available.

Made possible through a contribution from Natural Resources Canada’s ecoENERGY for Alternative Fuels initiative, the website is a key component of a more extensive education and public outreach program.

Compared to heavy diesel vehicles, one of Canada’s fastest-growing sources of greenhouse gas emissions, natural gas trucks and buses can help Canada’s environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20-25 percent.
