RE: Action Needed to Restore Federal Tax Credits for Biodiesel and Alternative Fuels
Congress and the White House are working on a plan to resolve the end of the year "fiscal cliff." Included in the negotiations is an extension of several tax incentives, including the extension of the $1.00 per gallon tax credit for biodiesel and the $0.50 per gallon alternative fuel tax credit for natural gas and propane through 2013.
These incentives expired on December 31, 2011. The uncertainty surrounding the incentives is now impacting vehicle purchase decisions and fuel planning by many fleets. For many fleets, a decision by Congress on extending these important credits is needed quickly so that companies and government agencies can finalize their vehicle acquisitions for the current model year and project fuel costs for the coming year.
If your fleet is impacted by one or more of these credits, I urge you to contact your elected officials in Washington. To reach your members of Congress, call the congressional switchboard at 202-224-3121 or visit the Senate website here and the House website here.
Please click here for suggested text for your phone call, fax or email. Do not hesitate to personalize your message and to explain the impact the credit expiration has or may have on your fleet.
If you have any questions, please contact NAFA’s U.S. Legislative Counsel, Patrick O’Connor, at 202/223-6222 or poconnor@nafa.org
Thank you for your continued support of the fleet management profession.
Sincerely,
Phillip E. Russo, CAE
