The 10 staff members and I get together the first Tuesday of every month for a morning meeting to share information and discuss major issues. I am always astounded by the amount of work being accomplished, as well as the high level of strategic activities taking place with this small group of professionals. Here’s a quick peek into the highlights of the notes from a recent meeting (otherwise known as our ‘Top 20 List’):
- The updated strategic plan includes nearly 50 new initiatives with action plans to be implemented over the next year or so.
- The NAFA Board will conduct a "start/stop/enhance" exercise in June regarding all of NAFA’s programs, services, etc.
- There are several (many) partnership possibilities on the table for NAFA to consider.
- NAFA is planning meetings with current partners to discuss enhancing our relationships.
- The unaudited 2012 year-end financials show a positive gain for the year, with nearly every revenue line exceeding budget and nearly every expense line under budget.
- The June 2013 (Atlanta), October 2013 (Tucson), and February 2014 (San Diego) Board meeting and seminar dates have been finalized and contracted.
- NAFA’s Utility Line Clearance Truck Equipment Committee and NAFA’s Safety Advisory Council now have e-communities to encourage worldwide networking.
- The entire NAFA staff will participate in mandatory safe driver training in May.
- I&E 2013 registration is over 600, which is four weeks ahead of last year’s pace.
- 90 percent of the 2013 expo hall is sold; it was expanded from 2012 by 10 percent.
- In an effort to walk-the-walk about sustainability, there will be no print stations this year but speaker handouts will be available online before and after I&E.
- The I&E Cyber Café will have 6 E-mail Stations and 2 Charging Stations, and beginning Friday morning will have 2 Boarding Pass Print Stations
- Radio spots for Beyond Fleet and I&E continue on WABC in New York.
- The February membership month closed at 3,160, which is an increase of 41 from January. Total membership is up 2.5 percent for the year.
- The I&E issue of FLEETSolutions is 72 pages – the largest in a decade – and features a large I&E preview.
- NAFA’s LinkedIn has 5,360 members, while Twitter has more than 1,700 followers.
- Topics for this year’s free monthly webinar series have been finalized and scheduled.
- There were 36 CAFM graduates for the 2012-13 year and more should be added after the exams at I&E.
- 118 people enrolled in the CAFM "Test Drive" program.
- NAFA’s International Fleet Academy will take place in October in Tucson and offer both an Introductory Seminar and an Advanced Seminar topic also combined with time allotted for one-on-one between fleet managers and each of the sponsors.
I know I’ve thrown a lot of numbers at you, but as you can see it’s all really good stuff...and all moving NAFA in an upward trajectory with lots of momentum. If you have any questions about any of these items, please contact me directly.
