Electric Vehicle Pilot Program Announced in London, Ontario

The City of London, Ontario has announced the launch of a one-year pilot program, to test the use of three Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations. The stations, which will be housed in the downtown core, will monitor the use and progress of the existing EV charging network throughout London and Ontario.

City Mayor Joe Fontana commended the initiative, highlighting that the City remains committed to being at the forefront of green initiatives and the addition of the three stations in the downtown core is a positive step to expand London’s existing network of 10 charging stations.

Three private sector EV charging station providers, with whom the City has partnered, have each donated a station to one of the three locations in London. The providers – ChargePoint, Sun Country Highway, and HD Supply Canada Inc. – will offer free charging to the public for the pilot period of one year, in order to promote the use and accessibility of this environmentally friendly infrastructure in the city.

The new locations include City Hall Lower Level Parking Garage, Covent Garden Market Parking Garage, and Budweiser Gardens Municipal Parking Lot #8.
