NAFA recognized the work of General Motors in the wake of Hurricane Sandy when NAFA President Claude Masters, CAFM, presented a plaque to Brian Bowden, Government Sales Manager for GM Fleet and Commercial on behalf of his company prior to the NAFA Annual Business Meeting at I&E on Tuesday, April 23.
When the hurricane hit, General Motors initially donated 50 vehicles to the American Red Cross for immediate disaster relief. They continued with a donation of $250,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Responder Program. And then, as the situation changed from relief to rebuild, GM donated two dozen vans to Habitat For Humanity for storm-ravaged areas of New York and New Jersey. These vans helped create Habitat’s first-ever fleet of mobile response units.
"With NAFA based in New Jersey and a strong supporter of Habitat For Humanity, this story caught our attention," said NAFA Executive Director Phil Russo, CAE.
A complete, detailed recap of the I&E will be available soon throughout NAFA publications and by email.
