The floor was busy and the energy was high as NAFA returned for a second year to the Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo. The message was clear that the Association was once again right in step with the concerns and interests of the industry as NAFA Professional Development Strategist Katherine Vigneau, CAFM, KMCS Fleet + Consulting, presented two sessions on Tuesday morning.
ACT Expo is North America's largest alternative fuel and clean vehicle technology conference and expo—representing electric, hybrid, hydrogen, natural gas, propane, and renewable fuels. In 2013, ACT Expo moved from its usual event location, Southern California, to our nation's capitol of Washington, DC to help further expand industry awareness and adoption.
Vigneau's sessions, "Fleet Management Essentials: NAFA and the Eight Disciplines of Fleet Management" and "Fleet Manager's Guide to Fuel Management - Understanding Fuel Option and Impacts," were packed with both fleet managers and service providers curious about NAFA's educational offerings. Also in the crowd were international award-winning PhD students studying hydrogen. Vigneau said she rarely gets nervous, but to speak about hydrogen as a source of fuel in this crowd definitely got her heart racing.
The Expo Hall opened on Tuesday night and closed at Thursday at noon, and was brimming with interactive technology, equipment displays, and every size of vehicle. Attendees stopped by the NAFA booth, manned by NAFA Senior Marketing Manager Christine Hamershock, to get answers and literature about what solutions NAFA has to offer to fleet professionals. Most attendees were especially curious about NAFA's certification program, their interest piqued by Vigneau's sessions on Tuesday morning, along with the fact that NAFA’S CAFM program is the industry’s standard for fleet education certification.
Several NAFA Members stopped by the booth to say hi, and long-time Member and Past President Patsy Brownson, CAFM helped answer questions in the NAFA booth during the show. "It is always great to have a fleet manager perspective in the booth to help sell NAFA membership," Hamershock said.
