Ford Recalls 370,000 Cars For Steering Fix, Involves Public Safety Favorite, Crown Victoria

Ford is recalling 370,000 cars due to potential corrosion to their steering shaft that may result in loss of steering. One of those models caught up in the recall was the perennial favorite for the Public Safety fleet segment, the Ford Crown Victoria. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

The cars include 2005 to 2011 Ford Crown Vic, Mercury Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Town Cars. About 355,000 are in the U.S. and 15,000 in Canada.

Dealers will inspect the cars and may replace the lower intermediate steering shaft and if necessary re-secure a lower steering column bearing and replace the upper intermediate steering shaft.

States included in the recall are: Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

Owners in other states can also ask for inspections and repairs.
