New Jersey Chapter Members were undaunted by the bright but cold Tuesday morning and made their way to the chapter's Distracted Driving session in late-November.
NAFA Affiliate Scott J. Smith, Director of Corporate Sales for Ray Catena Automotive Dealership helped facilitate the chapter meeting and arrangements.
Chapter members and attendees settle in for the presentation after a brief but spirited networking and coffee session.
Chapter Chair Frank Memolo introduced James Lewis, Chairman and CEO of Kyrus Mobile, whose software solution was demonstrated at this event. The product, which utilizes a plug-in device attached to a car's OBD-II port, blocks smartphone usage whenever the car is in motion at any speed.
Attendees had a lively discussion about how their work situations might be impacted by a product like this. Specifically, some members questioned whether the product was right for their particular needs, and whether it would cover all individuals' phones who would be in the vehicle, or only the employee's which would be synced to the unit. Attendees were invited to test drive the product by Lewis at the end of the presentation.
NAFA Affiliate Mark Petersen announced that chapter leadership positions will be open in 2014 and invited chapter members to consider running for these various positions.
Chapter Vice Chair Wendy Kupper, Fleet Manager for Siemens Shared Services LLC., let attendees know that the New Jersey Chapter's annual holiday meeting will be held in Bridgewater on December 10. Find out more in a special holiday meeting/charity outreach article in this issue of NAFAConnection.
With that, the meeting broke for 12:00 lunch with a variety of sandwiches, wraps, and side salads. Thanks again to Ray Catena Automotive Dealership for providing the location and food for this month's chapter meeting.
Special thanks to Chapter Chair Frank Memolo, Chapter Vice Chair Wendy Kupper, and Chapter Secretary Julia McIver for material in this article.
