Ascent Launches Electric Vehicle Charging Station in St. Thomas and Elgin County
Energy solutions provider Ascent Solutions Inc. has partnered with Sun Country Highway to support their goal to "green" 90 percent of Canada’s highways. In an effort to help assist the province of Ontario with the greening of its highways, Ascent has installed the first public Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) charging station in St. Thomas and Elgin County.
This is the first of two charging stations being installed in St. Thomas, with the second public EV charging station projected to launch in early 2014. Sun Country has already installed over 700 EV charging stations across Canada.
The charging station is located at Ascent’s corporate headquarters, where EV drivers can park and charge for free. The electricity is provided by St. Thomas Energy Inc., a division of Ascent Group Inc.
This initiative is the latest project in helping to make electric vehicle travel possible. Ascent remains committed to being the industry leader in the provision of energy services and solutions.
Sun Country Highway CEO Kent Rathwell was the keynote speaker at NAFA's International Fleet Academy in Tucson, AZ in October, 2013. His presentation discussed new innovations and initiatives in Canada, providing EV charging stations across the country. With this effort, an EV could drive emissions-free and cost-free across the entirety of Canada, coast-to-coast.
