Announced by Québec Mayor Régis Labeaume and Electric Circuit partners, the city of Québec is joining the public charging network, the Electric Circuit. This latest move will improve the availability of charging for electric vehicles across the community.

Between now and 2016, a total of eighteen Level 2 (240 V) charging stations will be obtained by the city, and will be installed in municipal lots. Mayor Labeaume highlighted that this initiative is consistent with one of the city’s major goals to implement the use of hybrid and electric vehicles, a key component of its sustainable mobility plan.

As part of the agreement, the first ten charging stations will be in service by the end of 2014. Eight more stations will follow next year. Both indoor and outdoor city parking lots will be the sites for the future stations.

The Electric Circuit, first launched in March 2012, consists of 58 private and institutional partners, and is the largest public charging network in Québec with more than 250 Level 2 (240 V) charging stations and one fast-charge (400-V) station in operation.
