In Memoriam: Russell R. Evans (1941-2014)

It is with deep sadness that NAFA informs members of the passing of Russ Evans, Vice-President of Hertrich Fleet Services. Russ passed away on March 19, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on February 27, 1941 in Orange, NJ, son of the late John Russell and Helen (Wiley) Evans. He was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Donna, in 2010.

Russ was well respected by members of the fleet industry, the automotive manufacturers, the community, and most of all, everyone within the Hertrich organization. He was five-times awarded by Ford Motor Company as a Top 25 Government Sales Dealer.

Russ served in the U.S. Coast Guard 1960-1964. From there he worked at Household Finance Corporation 1964-1973, completed their Management Training Program, was promoted to Branch Manager, and then to New Business Representative. From there Evans moved to Colonial Chevrolet, Wilmington, DE 1973-1989 (as F & I Manager; New Car Manager; Used Car Manager; Truck Center Manager; Fleet Sales Manager; and General Sales Manager). He was with Winner Automotive Group, Wilmington, DE 1989-1998 as Director of Fleet Sales. He had been with the Hertrich Family of Automobile Dealerships, Seaford, from 1998 to 2013 as Vice President of Hertrich Fleet Services, Milford.

He is survived by his fiancée Sandy Bonner, daughter Kimberly Duggan, stepson Jeffrey Faull (Joan), and grandchildren Wil and Kate Duggan, and Jill and Jacob Faull.
