In Memoriam: Jeff Coleman (1957-2014)

NAFA was saddened to learn of the passing of NAFA Member Jeff Coleman, Senior Fleet Manager for Time Warner Cable's West Region. Jeff passed away on April 23 from pneumonia, at an all-too-early age of 56. Jeff was NAFA Pacific Southwest Chapter Chair 2008-2009.

Jeff started in fleet at Pinkerton Security and Investigations in 1995, and later went to work for the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) as a Fleet Operations Supervisor.

It was at UCLA where he became involved with alternative-fuel vehicle operations. In addition, he was responsible for the UCLA campus Daily Rental Program and the administration of vehicle records for a fleet of 750 vehicles. Coleman worked at UCLA from September 1998 to June 1999.

He started in the cable industry in 2001, joining AT&T Broadband, which was acquired by Comcast in 2002. In 2010, he added to his responsibilities the San Diego fleet operations. At the time of his death, Jeff managed the West Region fleet of 13,000 service trucks, which also included Ohio, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, Texas, Idaho, California, and Hawaii.

Jeff lived most of his life in Los Angeles. His family and friends will best remember Jeff for his love of cars and wine, as well as for his wry sense of humor. Jeff was kind and compassionate and got along with everyone, as evidenced by the large circle of friends he had from each chapter of his life. Jeff was a loving and devoted son to his mother, who survives him.

NAFA Affiliate Mike Wade, Director of Marketing at E.J. Ward and the Pacific Southwest Chapter Communications Committee Chair said, "The NAFA Pacific Southwest Chapter will honor Jeff with a moment of silence at the Chapter’s May 7 Meeting. On behalf of the NAFA Pacific Southwest Chapter Board we wish to express our deepest sympathy towards Jeff’s passing."
