The third annual Company Car Drive took place at the Autodromo Nazionale, Monza, Italy, on May 14 and 15. NAFA International Vice President Joseph LaRosa was in attendance along with Giovanni Tortorici, President of A.I.A.G.A. - Italian Association of Managers and Buyers Company Cars. A.I.A.G.A., along with GL Events Italy and Econometrica, was a sponsor of the event.
Tortorici was a speaker at NAFA's third International Fleet Academy in Tucson, AZ in 2013.
In 2013, A.I.A.G.A. (the Italian Fleet Manager and Fleet Buyer Association) became the first international association to officially partner with NAFA on a global fleet level. The two associations will share resources, partner on events, exchange ideas, conduct research, promote each others industry awards, and work towards their ultimate goal – an online, virtual learning center for fleet managers with resources available for NAFA and A.I.A.G.A. members. LaRosa's participation at the Company Car Drive comes as part of NAFA's partnership with A.I.A.G.A.
NAFA and A.I.A.G.A. also work together to develop educational content, conduct benchmarking surveys, and promote the industry awards presented by each organization.
602 fleet managers in attendance had an opportunity to test four different routes, designed to test all driving conditions. 183 cars were provided by exhibiting automotive brands: Audi, BMW, BMWi, Dacia, Ford, Hyundai, Infiniti, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Nissan, Porsche, Renault, Seat, Skoda, Smart, Volkswagen, and Volvo. Over 3,300 test drives were taken during the event.
The international fleets seminar, "International Fleet Best Practices and Trends," was attended by the top leaders of fleet management associations from North America, Great Britain, Belgium, and Italy. This session informed about current trends in the fleet industry in major European and world markets.
Also at the event was the presentation of the United States Fleet Awards. Mauro Russo (EniServizi Spa) won the United States Fleet Manager of the Year award; Nicholas Dentamaro (Gas Natural Spa Italy) was awarded the United States Fleet Safety Quality Environment Award; and Carlo Bertolini (Chiesi Farmaceutici Spa) won the United States Fleet Mobility Award.
