On June 11, the Chicago Chapter welcomed 35 fleet managers, suppliers, and guests to the Embassy Suites in Schaumburg, IL for the Chicago Chapter Spring Double-header. This half-day meeting was split into two sessions, and covered topics suggested by Chapter Members in surveys conducted over the past several months.
A continental breakfast was followed by the first session on "Global Fleet Basics." Presenters Dawn Santelli (LeasePlan USA) and Scott Singsank (Wheels, Inc.) provided attendees with a perspective on what needs to be considered when developing a global fleet organization as well as the "watch outs" which could compromise the project.
The second session was "Surviving in a Procurement World" and presenters Mark LeGrand (ARI) and Laura Joswiak (Wheels, Inc.) provided the tools to help fleet managers successfully team up with company procurement departments by showing attendees how to think and act like a Procurement professional.
A box lunch and networking session rounded out the meeting. Thanks to Mike Zalas (LeasePlan USA) and Affiliates Committee Chair Joe McDonald (Wheels, Inc.) for arranging the meeting and recruiting speakers.
Special thanks to Chicago Chapter Secretary David Lighthall, CFM/CAFM, for material in this article.
