Bill Cyphers, a 30-year veteran of Subaru of America and one of the key executives who helped the brand’s sales skyrocket, is retiring as its Senior Vice President of Sales. He is expected to continue with the company until the end of 2014 in an unspecified capacity.
The company appointed Jeffrey Walters to the position, effective July 1. Walters has been with Subaru since 1992, most recently as Vice President of Field Operations. He has worked in sales, distribution, and marketing, according to Subaru. The company credits Walters with helping to involve the U.S. sales arm in motorsports and the introduction of company-sponsored Rally Team USA in 2001.
Walters will supervise Gerald Lee, Vice President of Vehicle Planning and Logistics. Charles Reed, Manager of National Fleet Sales Operations, reports to Lee.
Tom Doll, President of Subaru of America, said: "Jeff understands the role very well, and this will allow for a smooth transition from Bill as we look to continue our business success into our sixth year of consecutive sales records."
