Factory Motor Parts in Phoenix, AZ was the host for the Arizona Chapter's most recent meeting on Thursday, June 19. The topic was one of the most central to the life and livelihood to any driver, let alone a fleet driver: the brakes. This session's primary presentations were given by David Robinson and Jordan Henry from AC Delco, as well as Gary Baker from Bendix.
The presentation covered AC Delco's three primary product lines: Advantage, Durastop, and GM OEM. Robinson and Henry went over a description of each, the positives and negatives, price point, coverage, and the all-important warranty. They also spoke of the rules and regulations, both in place and to come, in regard to the amount of copper and heavy metals that are used to make brake pads. They concluded the presentation with what is up-and-coming with brakes, and how regulations, advancements, and requirements for higher mileage standards are going to change the way that brake equipment is currently manufactured.
Baker began his presentation with the highlights and history of Bendix's brakes. He then went into an explanation of the brake pad options that the company carries, covering the various reasons why individuals would choose one brake pad over another, and how that thinking translates to the high-use fleet world.
The meeting concluded with an extensive tour of the Factory Motor Parts facility in West Phoenix, the Chapter's host for the day's sessions.
