NAFA's Wisconsin Chapter Goes Walking Through A Golfing Wonderland

A group of over 150 fleet professionals gathered at Western Lakes Golf Club on July 8 for the Wisconsin Chapter's 23rd Annual Golf and Leisure Outing.

The theme for this year’s event was Christmas in July. After receiving an over-stuffed gift bag at the registration table, attendees were treated to a holiday themed continental breakfast. Outside, with appropriate holiday music playing over the loudspeakers, they could hone their skills at a putting contest or try their luck at a ring toss game for "bottles."

Then, to our wondrous surprise who did appear, but the jolly old elf himself...Santa Claus! (Some claim it was actually Tom Krause, but the author will neither confirm nor deny that conjecture.) Santa gave an anecdotal presentation about his fleet, logistical challenges, driving while sleepy, list-checking, and a few other issues the gathered fleet professionals could relate to.

Soon everyone was heading out to the links for a round of golf on a beautiful fall-like day. A lunch with holiday cookies was available mid-round. After completion of the round of golf, in an effort to ward off dehydration, everyone gathered for refreshments and holiday cheer. Soon it was time for the feast where more stories of spectacular shots and sunk putts were shared.

Each year a worthy charity is invited to join the Chapter at the dinner. This year, it was Variety, the Children’s Charity of Wisconsin. The proceeds from the ring-toss bottle game, passing the hat, and a contribution from NAFA's Wisconsin Chapter totaled $3500 for this very worthy charity. To conclude the day, names were drawn for door prizes (everyone left with at least one door prize) and the event wrapped up with over two dozen raffle prizes. If anyone left less than happy, they truly must be a Grinch.
