The City Of Lévis Turns To Electric Vehicles

The Mayor of Lévis, Gilles Lehouillier, has revealed the installment of twelve 240-V public charging-stations for electric vehicles across the city by 2017. The city has partnered with Electric Circuit in order to provide the necessary infrastructure. In addition, there will be on Highway 20 a first 400-V fast-charging station expected to be operational in 2015.

"The installation of Electric Circuit charging stations in our city is another of Lévis's initiatives to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and improve the quality of life of our residents. I strongly encourage businesses, organizations, and the general population to take part in the movement to electrify transportation: It's the way of the future. I am delighted to announce that in 2015 Lévis will host a 'Rendez-vous branché' so that our residents can meet experts in the field and ask questions," declared Gilles Lehouillier, Mayor of Lévis.

The City of Lévis is yet another example of Quebec cities taking action towards vehicle electrification by making it more accessible which demonstrates the new importance of this new mode of transportation.

Ontario Invests $321.5 Million In Public Transit

The Ontario government will boost public transit this year by injecting $321.5 million through the gas tax funding in 96 municipalities. The objective of this investment is to increase and further develop public transit within the province.

"Year over year, this program helps improve and expand our public transit systems. This is further proof of our government’s commitment to making the daily commute and quality of life better for Ontario families", said the Minister of Transportation, Steven De Luca.

Investing in public transit has proven to be very important for the government as it is part of its economic plan in terms of infrastructure and transit.  The Ontario Gas Tax program is meant to facilitate the use of public transit by providing more transit vehicles and expanding the road network which are two examples of implementing this program throughout the province.

The Ontario government is increasingly investing in public transit and infrastructure in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and offer a better quality a life to its citizens. It is important for NAFA fleet managers to keep an eye out on public transit due to considerable investments and commitments made by the government.
