On December 11, the New York-Intercounty Chapter of NAFA held its annual Holiday Networking meeting and luncheon at Ben and Jack’s Steakhouse in New York City. Thirty-five people attended and had a wonderful time.

Brett Berk, a freelance automotive journalist who has written for publications such as Autoweek, BBC.Com., Black Ink, and Car and Driver, was the guest speaker. His informative presentation touched upon many of the technologies that are now being implemented in all types of vehicles. An informative question and answer followed the presentation.

Following Bret Berk, a representative from the New York City chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation spoke about the work of the organization. Make A Wish helps terminally or seriously ill children obtain their greatest desire whether it be a trip or becoming a superhero. He shared the story of a girl battling cancer. Her wish was for her and her family to go to Hawaii where they can put the cares of fighting the deadly disease behind them for a week. So, the family will be heading to Hawaii during this holiday season.

The New York-Intercounty Chapter holds a raffle each year to benefit Make A Wish. Attendees purchase tickets and various items are raffled. Many of these items are donated by various NAFA Affiliates and local sports teams. Additionally the chapter purchases gift cards for the event.

The raffle was headed by Jim Reinish, the New York-Intercounty Chapter Chair, and Elaine Schwartz, both of whom are shown in the picture below. The chapter was able to send Make A Wish $1500 this year. Over the past years the chapter has raised approximately $20,000 for this great work.
