Patrick Starr, former Chairman of Consolidated Service Corp. (CSC) and an instrumental player in the formation of NAFA, died on January 17. He was 87.
A member of the fleet industry for over fifty years, Pat was the Chairman of CSC until the company was purchased by LeasePlan in 2000. He subsequently retired. During his years at CSC and other companies, Pat helped establish fleet's first national tire account, glass repair/replacement plans, and replacement rentals, and is regarded as an innovator in the fleet profession.
In the late 1950s, Pat helped form NAFA, and was a major force for the institution of a yearly conference. The conference has changed names and grown to become today's Institute & Expo, considered the biggest gathering of fleet professionals in the industry. He received an Honorary Membership to NAFA in 1991.
Pat Starr is survived by his wife of 58 years of Harriet; children Ron Starr and Susan Kalfen; and grandchildren Dana, Jori, Ian, and Ali. Pat will be dearly missed by his extended family and friends. NAFA offers their condolences and remembers this individual who helped make the Association what it is today.
